Episode 2.11 – Why would you premiere a movie anywhere but Lubbock?

It’s Chasing Mimi’s tribute to the silver screen. In this episode Ryan and Martin are joined by Sports Illustrated’s Lindsay Schnell, who is as passionate as we are about kids sports movies, a genre that is woefully underrepresented in today’s film industry.

Among the topics discussed are:

Air Bud, seriously, the plot of Air Bud

– How terrible dads are in these movies

– Girls being awesome at sports

– Joshua Jackson

– Enchanted Game Gears

So strap yourselves in, grab some popcorn and enjoy. We’d like to thank the Academy and all of you.

Episode 2.9 – Behold the mighty TETHERBAR

After a bye week to prepare for our next guest, we were well rested and ready to talk about gym and recess with none other than Bleacher Report’s Adam Kramer (the indomitable @KegsNEggs). While Adam is still riding his hot streak from tetherball and dreaming of future stardom, Ryan compares foursquare to life and Martin tries to explain what the heck Dr. Dodgeball is.

Join us and have fun because fun is good.

Episode 2.8 – There are two kinds of SimCity players in this world

As we prepare for all things Freedom and America, Internet friend Bobby Big Wheel stops by to talk about computer games, the only way we could trick our parents into thinking we were doing something educational as kids while we were really conquering nations with the click of a mouse. Some all-star names are covered like SimCity, as well as some lesser known hits like Amazon Trail.

In the end we laughed, we cried, and we remembered what it was like to be kids in front of a computer screen trying to figure out whether to build roads or a new power plant when we really should’ve been kicking soccer balls instead.

Episode 2.7 – And the Grammy goes to … Adult Chocolate Milk

This week’s episode features a subject that is near and dear to our hearts: 90s R&B. We welcome Lauren Brownlow from Fox Sports Carolinas to help us remember the good times.  In our exploration of all things sensual and double entendre, we break down Ginuwine’s Pony video, the albums that got us into the genre (soundtracks included), who we’d like to have perform if we had $1,000 and more.

There’s also a brief introduction to Adult Chocolate Milk, which Martin has volunteered to try at some point soon for some inexplicable reason.

Episode 2.5 – The Tale of Enterprise Village

In the spirit of, well, the show that got us here, this week is devoted to school trips. While none of us took a whale watching expedition in the name of education, we did some other fun stuff. Here to help us reflect is MLB.com’s Matthew Leach, who brought our Florida contingent into frightening quorum levels. We discuss trips to Florida destinations, Tampa: the social media manager of cities, as well as Enterprise Village. You’ll just have to listen to find out what the heck that is.

Follow Matt on Twitter because he is great and listen in whatever manner you feel most comfortable to our fair podcast. Godspeed.

Episode 2.4 – Snacks On Deck, Soda On Ice

This week is a special treat as we talk about something that’s near and dear to all of our hearts: childhood snacks. Who better to bring in than snacker extraordinaire (it’s on his business card, we think) Seth Rosenthal. Seth is good at blogging and does so in various places including Posting and Toasting and SB Nation. But mostly he’s just a smart and fun person who we really enjoyed talking about snacks with.

In this episode everything from the ages old Fruit Rollup vs. Fruit By The Foot debate to the idea of fruit snacks as commerce is discussed so we’re serving up (food term) the fun.

Episode 2.3 – Don’t Get Stuck With A Headless Barbie

This week, Ryan and I spend time with the all-around great Julie Veilleux, who teaches us what it’s like to play Barbies in Canada. It’s a Barbie world filled with G.I. Joes being too small to be a part of the world of intrigue, scandals galore and neatly sorted piles of accessories. We did our best to keep up, but there are some universes even we aren’t so familiar with.

It’s finally here. The final episode in season one of Chasing Mimi. It’s been a pleasure cruising the high seas with y’all, and I just want to personally thank each and every person who supported us along the way. We couldn’t do it without our guests and our listeners and Mimi fans around the world. Give yourselves a round of applause.

Episode 13 – Weaponizer X, Bartles & Jaymes, and #HotMustacheTakes

The winner of the fan vote was Michael Felder (@InTheBleachers) and we discuss everything from weaponizing trash and Home Alone: Vegas to Samuel L Jackson and the band Journey. It’s a wild ride to say the least.

Episode 12 – MEN OF SCIENCE AND WOODEN BOATS

Welcome to the penultimate episode of Chasing Mimi, the world’s foremost and only Voyage of the Mimi podcast. We are pleased and #blessed to announce our guests this week are Ohio State graduates and friends of the podcast Luke Zimmerman, who was newly raised in the SB Nation Line of Succession, and Dr. Denny Mayo.

This week’s episode may not give us Red Wedding levels of drama and jaw-dropping action, but the podcast sure does. Climb aboard as we talk about Wooden Boat magazine, poets on a deserted island, and more. This is place you’ll find recruits committing to a school mid-episode, setting yet another first for our fair broadcast.

And as a special treat, we’re letting you, that’s right, you, the listeners pick the final guest for the first season of Chasing Mimi. Our 11 guests are below, so vote early and vote often, Vote Or Die and so on and so forth, but our winner will be chosen with all the honor bestowed on selfish grandstanding and politicking. Cheers.

Episode 11 – BROOKLYN AND MEMPHIS BLEEK Y’ALL

It’s Episode 11 of Chasing Mimi, and we’re still trapped on an island debating the merits of the localvore movement. Thankfully, our guest this week is Andrew Sharp of Grantland (and formerly of SB Nation) fame. We dig deep into important issues like Icebox from Little Giants, responsible composting, Voyage of the Mimi spinoffs, and figs. Join us because this podcast is for you.

Episode 11 – Brooklyn And Memphis Bleek Y’All

Here is the video for Episode 11 of Voyage of the Mimi, America’s most quickly forgotten 80s educational program featuring Ben Affleck. You can find all the previous episodes on iTunes because some people like listening to it that way when they’re at the gym or gardening or driving or walking the dog (not a euphemism). And if you have questions, well don’t be a stranger, email us at sailingwithben@gmail.com. Cheers.
